Oxford Halts Absentee Voting After Printer Sends Wrong Ballots
The town clerk's office resumed voting after about a half hour and is checking all ballots with the Secretary of State's office.
Absentee voting in Oxford was briefly suspended on Oct. 6 after the town clerk's office learned that at least one voter had been given a ballot meant for a different voting district, NEWS CENTER Maine reported.
The office was notified on the morning of Oct. 6 that an absentee voter had received the wrong ballot. A review found the town had been sent ballots for another district from the Secretary of State's office, the result of a packaging mistake at the printer, according to the report.
Voting was paused for roughly half an hour while town workers reported the problem and worked out how to proceed, then resumed. The clerk's office is continuing to verify all ballots on hand and is coordinating with the Secretary of State's office.
