Sam Strumph Builders, a family-owned home building company based in Gorham, said on its website that it has more than 30 years of experience constructing and renovating houses in Southern Maine. The business is run by Sam Strumph Sr. and Sam Strumph Jr., according to its site, which lists a separate phone line for each.

Colonial to Contemporary

The company said it builds custom houses from the ground up, spanning traditional colonial designs and open-concept contemporary layouts. For existing homes, Sam Strumph Builders said its work covers additions, in-law apartments, kitchen and bathroom updates, and whole-home renovations. The company said it has completed hundreds of custom homes, remodels and additions over the years, and that it also has decades of experience with home systems, including heating.

Four-Step Process

According to its website, the company walks clients through four stages: an initial consultation to review goals and needs, a design phase to refine layouts and finishes, construction carried out with what the company calls proven building techniques, and a final walkthrough before handing over the keys. Sam Strumph Builders said every project gets a realistic schedule and regular updates on budget and progress. The company described its values as honesty, craftsmanship and care, saying it builds every job as though it were its own, and said it uses materials and techniques meant to hold up through Maine's seasons, from foundation work to finishing trim.

A Southern Maine Service Area

The company said it serves towns within about 45 minutes of its Gorham base, including Westbrook, Scarborough, Portland, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Windham, Standish, Buxton, Saco, Falmouth, Cumberland and Yarmouth. Sam Strumph Builders described itself as fully licensed, and listed its office hours as Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Saturday appointments by request and Sundays closed. The company can be reached at samstrumphbuilders@gmail.com.
