Southern Maine Heat Pumps, a family-owned company based in Gorham, said its technicians bring more than 30 years of combined experience to heat pump installation and repair in towns stretching from the Augusta area down to York County, 48 in all. The company said it does not work on central air conditioning or oil furnaces, describing itself as a shop that focuses only on heat pumps.
Installs, Repairs and Tune-Ups
According to its website, the company's work includes new heat pump installations, ductless mini-splits, multi-zone systems, heat pump water heaters, commercial systems, equipment upgrades, repairs and energy recovery ventilators. The company said it services any brand of heat pump regardless of who installed it, naming Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu, LG and Bosch among the systems its technicians maintain, and that annual inspections and tune-ups are meant to extend equipment life and head off breakdowns.
Southern Maine Heat Pumps said it is registered with Efficiency Maine as a vendor and handles the paperwork for rebates and incentives on qualifying installations. A multi-zone system, the company said, links one outdoor unit to several indoor units with independent temperature control in each room, and can lower energy use by up to 40% compared with conventional HVAC. The company also said its heat pump water heaters run with two to three times the efficiency of a standard electric water heater.
Five Counties, 48 Towns
The company said it is based in Gorham and serves towns across York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Sagadahoc and Kennebec counties, including Portland, Westbrook, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Biddeford, Saco, Brunswick, Sanford and Kennebunk. The company said it also installs energy recovery ventilators, pulling in fresh outdoor air while recovering energy that would otherwise be lost through the exhaust, which it said improves indoor air quality alongside a heat pump.
