U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts headlined a rally in Portland on October 17 for Troy Jackson, the Democrat challenging Republican Senator Susan Collins, The Boston Globe reported.

Warren told the crowd that voters could choose a lawmaker willing to confront President Donald Trump's agenda rather than one who goes along with it. "My money is on Troy Jackson," she said.

Warren appeared at a similar Portland rally in April 2026 for Graham Platner, whose campaign ended after a series of controversies, including a sexual assault allegation from a former girlfriend. Warren pulled her endorsement at that point, according to the Globe. Jackson entered the race as the party's replacement candidate and has limited time to raise his profile.

Collins is outspending Jackson on television and has run ads attacking his tenure as Maine Senate president. Both candidates come from families with long ties to Aroostook County.

Jackson, a logger from Allagash and a former state senator, told supporters he entered politics out of frustration with how working people are treated, citing his work on universal free school meals and paid family medical leave. The two met in their final debate on October 15.

This story was first reported by The Boston Globe.
