Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Troy Jackson said he does not regret telling Sen. Susan Collins to "shut up" during an October 15 debate, in a CNN interview that aired on October 18, according to The Maine Wire.

Speaking with CNN's Dana Bash, Jackson said the exchange followed a suggestion by Collins that a protester who interrupted the debate was a Jackson supporter. Jackson said he did not know the protester and had no role in the interruption.

"But what I am not going to be is, you know, talked down to by Senator Collins," Jackson said, adding that he would not be accused of arranging the disruption.

Asked again by Bash whether he would let the remark stand without an apology, Jackson said yes, The Maine Wire reported.
