A group of southern Maine men who pool $100 donations at a Westbrook restaurant awarded more than $9,000 to The Dream Factory, an organization that sends children with medical conditions on trips, WMTW reported on October 24, 2026.
The group, called "100 Men Who Care," meets every four months at the Stockhouse in Westbrook. Each member contributes $100 and nominates a nonprofit, with the nominations placed in a basket. Three are drawn, and the members who put them forward explain why the cause matters to them. The charity winning the popular vote takes the full pot.
At the previous meeting, the group gave more than $9,000 to Caring Resources for Living, which provides materials and comforts to children with life-threatening conditions.
Membership spans a range of occupations, according to Bo Balcavage, one of the group's leaders, who said the roster includes bankers, urologists, farmers and fishermen. "We are suckers for small nonprofits and very personal stories," Balcavage said.
Information on joining is available on the group's website.
