Mills Orders Flags at Half-Staff for Lewiston Shooting Anniversary

The order covers U.S. and state flags across Maine from sunrise to sunset on October 25, three years after the 2023 attack.

Gov. Janet Mills directed that United States and Maine flags be flown at half-staff statewide on October 25, 2026, the third anniversary of the mass shooting in Lewiston, NEWS CENTER Maine reported.

The flags are to remain lowered from sunrise to sunset for the full day of remembrance. The order honors the 18 people killed and the 13 people who survived the October 2023 attack.

In a statement accompanying the order, Mills pointed to the resilience Maine residents have drawn from remembering the people who died, and to the kindness and community support shown in the years since, according to the station.
