Ellsworth voters can question candidates for city and school offices at two public forums on Oct. 13 and Oct. 21, part of the annual Meet the Candidates series ahead of the November election, the Bangor Daily News reported.

The first session, covering the City Council race, is set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at The Grand. Four people are competing for two council seats: Casey Hanson, Nancy Smith, Tiffany Gaspar and Robert Grant Sr. Cyndi Wood, managing editor of The Ellsworth American, will moderate.

Admission is free, and the city plans to livestream the forum and post a recording on its YouTube channel. Residents can send questions in advance by email to the newspaper or write them on index cards at the event.

The second gathering, new to the series, brings together candidates for the Ellsworth School Board and the Ellsworth Public Library Board of Trustees at 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the library. Organizers described it as an informal, conversational session where residents can meet the candidates directly.

The nonpartisan series is organized by Heart of Ellsworth with The Ellsworth American, the Ellsworth Public Library and the city.
