Jonathan Bush Funds Ad Campaign in Three Maine Council Races

About 20 people attended the Bangor kickoff, where Republican speakers called for electing more conservative candidates to local office.

Tech entrepreneur Jonathan Bush said on October 12 that he will fund an advertising campaign around city council elections in Bangor, Lewiston and Waterville, the Bangor Daily News reported.

About 20 people attended a kickoff event in Bangor's West Market Square on the morning of October 12. Some came to back Bush and other Republicans, who spoke about electing more conservative candidates. Others at the gathering questioned bringing outside money and influence into a race that is officially nonpartisan, according to the Bangor Daily News.

The spending could reshape a contest that usually draws little attention from beyond the Bangor area, the outlet reported.
