U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts plans to campaign in Maine with Democratic Senate nominee Troy Jackson on Oct. 17, appearing at a "No Kings" rally in Portland in the afternoon and a town hall in Kennebunk later in the day, The Boston Globe reported. The advocacy group End Citizens United, which presses candidates to refuse corporate PAC money, is helping stage the Kennebunk event.

Jackson, a former Maine Senate president, is running against Republican Sen. Susan Collins, who has held the seat for close to 30 years. Democrats view the race as essential to winning a Senate majority in November. Public polling shows the two candidates close, according to the Globe.

Jackson became the nominee at a Maine Democratic convention in July 2026, called after allegations of sexual assault against earlier candidate Graham Platner ended his campaign. Warren had backed Platner and appeared with him in Portland about six months before the planned October visit.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, another former Platner supporter, campaigned with Jackson in Bangor and Lewiston over the weekend of Oct. 10. Warren said Jackson is "a fighter for working people." Warren also rallied with Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed that same weekend.

This story was first reported by The Boston Globe.
