Franklin Savings Bank's $20,000 Boosts Ellsworth Field Safety Upgrades
The bank's donation will help the Ellsworth Rotary Club add a playground, fencing and parking at DeMeyer Field for youth sports and families.
Franklin Savings Bank has donated $20,000 to help redevelop DeMeyer Field in Ellsworth, according to the Bangor Daily News. The Ellsworth Rotary Club is leading the project, which is meant to make the multi-use field complex safer and more accessible for youth sports, family recreation and community programs. Planned improvements include a new playground area, fencing, upgrades to the field itself, better pathways and additional parking. Crystal Richards, a vice president and commercial lender at the bank, called the effort a grassroots one built on local businesses, volunteers and donors. Peter Farragher of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and Debra Ehrlenbach, the city's Citizen of the Year and a leader of the field's fundraising campaign, both thanked the bank for its support. Bank President and Chief Executive Tim Thompson said the donation reflects the bank's broader commitment to investing in the communities it serves. Franklin Savings Bank, founded in 1868, is a mutual savings bank offering personal, business, mortgage and digital banking services across Maine and has served the Ellsworth area for nearly ten years. Organizers are continuing to raise money to complete the field's redevelopment.
