Maine Marinas Rush To Pull Boats Before Nor'easter

Marinas across Maine are speeding up boat removals ahead of a nor'easter forecast to arrive on September 26 and 27, 2026, with boat owners warning that strong wind gusts can turn loose gear into a hazard. Helene Marsh Harrower, co-owner of Paul's Marina in Brunswick, said the marina is pulling more boats out of the water than it typically would at this point in its seasonal closing schedule, and she is urging customers not to underestimate what high winds can do to unsecured items such as fishing poles and life jackets. Fisherman Steve Train is also taking precautions to protect his equipment, and some lobstermen are relocating their gear to deeper water to keep it safe from the storm, NEWS CENTER Maine reported.
