Nurses say the company that owns Central Maine Medical Center is retaliating against their effort to unionize.
Nurses gathered outside the Lewiston hospital Central Maine Medical Center during the morning commute on September 15, 2026, to protest what they describe as retaliation by the company that owns the hospital against their effort to unionize, WMTW reported. The picket was meant to draw public attention to the nurses' organizing campaign and to allegations that the hospital's management is pushing back against it.
