TradeHire, a hiring platform for licensed trades founded by a team based in Portland, said it verifies every technician's license directly against state records before a profile goes live. Rather than accepting a self-reported credential, the company said it checks each license against the issuing state's own database to confirm the license type, what it authorizes and whether it remains active. TradeHire said it supports seven license categories: commercial driver's license holders, oil technicians, electricians and limited electricians, plumbers, propane and natural gas technicians, and technicians certified under EPA Section 608 and Section 609.

Privacy Built Into the Platform

TradeHire said a technician's name, phone number and email stay hidden until that person agrees to connect, and that until then, an employer sees nothing more than the trade, the license and the general area where the technician is available. The company said it charges no placement commissions, instead charging for access and outcomes, and that search rankings are not for sale. Once two sides agree to connect, the company said, they are free to continue the conversation on their own, away from the platform.

Listings by Trade and Town

According to its website, job and technician listings are organized by both trade and town, and each town-level page shows pay rates alongside local Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data and the state license the work requires. The company said employers search its bench of state-verified tradespeople instead of combing through resumes, with technicians surfaced for the credentials they have actually earned.

Founded in Portland

The company said its founding team combined backgrounds in technology and the trades, working out of Portland, and that the platform is now launching statewide. The company said its founders spent years working with Maine contractors, tradespeople and service companies before building TradeHire as what it described as an answer to hiring tools that it said poorly served the trades industry. Maine's seasonal demand, rural geography and distinct licensing system were part of the reason the company said it chose to launch there first.
