Cumberland Closing Mill Road Bridge After Safety Inspection

Residents say the shutdown could disrupt school bus routes, with repairs potentially years off.

By Caroline Doucette

The Mill Road Bridge in Cumberland will be closed following a safety inspection, NEWS CENTER Maine reported on October 14, 2026.

The television station reported that the closure stems from the results of the inspection and that repairs to the span could be years away.

Residents told NEWS CENTER Maine they are concerned about the effects of the shutdown, including on school bus routes that rely on the crossing.

No reopening date for the bridge was given.
