Brewer Nightspot for Sale at $199,000 Despite $500,000 in Upgrades

A longtime nightspot on North Main Street in Brewer is for sale for $199,000, the latest turn for a venue that has repeatedly closed and reopened in recent years, according to the Bangor Daily News.
Owner Steve Markwith announced the sale in a social media post but did not give a reason, saying only that he wants enough to cover the business's existing debt. The venue closed on January 1, 2025, then reopened that spring as Mack's Restaurant and Tavern before closing again in November 2025 after struggling with low customer traffic and failing to obtain an amusement license.
Markwith said more than $500,000 has gone into upgrades, including a new bar and seating, and described the roughly 8,400-square-foot space, which seats 200 people and includes a stage and sound system, as "essentially turn-key ready to go right now." He said a buyer could keep the business similar to its past incarnations, which included pizza, brunch and karaoke, or reshape it into something new.
