AUBURN — Work on the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in the Lewiston-Auburn area remains on schedule for an opening in early 2027, the company said, according to the Sun Journal.
The restaurant is going up at 65 Mount Auburn Ave., on a site beside Hobby Lobby where crews broke ground earlier in 2026. In a statement, the chain said construction is progressing and that the building will include a pair of drive-thru lanes, with additional details to come closer to opening.
A second Maine location is also expected in early 2027 at Maine Mall Plaza in South Portland. The Atlanta-based chain now operates two restaurants in the state, in Westbrook and Bangor, and more than 3,000 overall across the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Canada.
Chick-fil-A Inc. makes a $25,000 donation tied to each restaurant opening, directed to Feeding America or, in Canada, Second Harvest, for local hunger relief. The chain's restaurants do not open on Sundays, a practice begun by founder S. Truett Cathy so employees could rest or attend worship services.
