The International Cryptozoology Museum in Bangor was featured in October 2026 by the nationally syndicated newsmagazine "Inside Edition," which pitched the Broadway attraction as a Halloween-season destination, Q106.5 reported.

The museum relocated from Portland and opened its Bangor location in the spring of 2026. Its collection includes casts of footprints attributed to Bigfoot, along with models of the Fiji Mermaid and the Chupacabra.

Assistant director Christopher Packard told "Inside Edition Digital" that the collection runs to more than 20,000 items and that no other museum of its type is older or bigger. He said the displays mix material that could be genuine with known hoaxes, and that fabricated evidence still carries a story worth telling.

"Cryptozology is the science that explores the edge of science," Packard said.

The national segment gives Bangor tourism exposure tied to an attraction other than the city's long-standing association with author Stephen King.
